falcON: A cartesian FMM for the low-accuracy regime

Dr. Walter Dehnen

Astrophysics at University of Leicester

Abstract:   I will start by reviewing the types and applications of N-body simulations in astrophysics. I will then enter into the technical issues of the force computation and present falcON, which appears to be superior to most, if not all other techniques used in this field. Whether other fields (than astrophysics) could benefit from falcON, could be a subject of the subsequent discussion.
