Interface Tracking Methods

Dr. Bjorn Engquist

Mathematics at Princeton University

Abstract:   We will discuss numerical properties of different computational methods for tracking of material interfaces. Examples of such methods are phase field models, levelset methods, front tracking and segment projection methods. These techniques for the interface dynamics on the macro scale can be coupled to atomistic microscale simulations to generate a heterogeneous multiscale method.
