Prof. Tamas Gombosi will lead CMPD activities at
the University of Michigan.
The principal effort at Michigan will be to extend
the BATS-R-US code to toroidal systems.
BATS-R-US was designed by the Michigan group to rein in the problem of
space weather and its disparate scales. BATS-R-US stands for
Block-Adaptive-Tree Solar-wind Roe Upwind Scheme. Embodied in that
mouthful of a title is a series of innovative features that combine to
make the Michigan team's effort unique in the world of computational
physics.
