The Self-Force on Accelerated Charges in Generic Spacetimes

Following the work of Barack and Ori (2008) we develop a scheme to calculate the renormalization parameters for the mode sum method of calculating the self-force for an accelerated charge moving through an arbitrary space time. We then show that this method yields the correct force for two well-known cases. In related work we demonstrate that, for a large class of background metrics and charts, the singular field can be described entirely by the leading and sub-leading terms (the ‘A’ and ‘B’ terms).
