Abstract:
I will present and discuss some equation-free
computational experiments, where short bursts of
appropriately initialized "fine scale" simulations
are used to obtain coarse-grained results. In
particular, I will present coarse dynamic
renormalization computations as well as the use of
data mining techniques (diffusion maps) to extract
good coarse-grained observables from fine scale
simulation data. The illustrative applications will
range from micelle formation computations to the
collective motion of interacting particles. [slides]
