Some examples of coarsegrained computation

Abstract:
I will present and discuss some equationfree
computational experiments, where short bursts of
appropriately initialized "fine scale" simulations
are used to obtain coarsegrained results. In
particular, I will present coarse dynamic
renormalization computations as well as the use of
data mining techniques (diffusion maps) to extract
good coarsegrained observables from fine scale
simulation data. The illustrative applications will
range from micelle formation computations to the
collective motion of interacting particles.
