Multiscale modeling of epitaxial growth - from atomistic to continuum models

Professor Axel Voight

Technische Universität Dresden, Germany

Abstract:   We will give an overview of how PDEs can be used to describe epitaxial growth on various scales. Thereby we will extent classical BCF and height function models to the situation of heteroepitaxial growth and compare kinetic and thermodynamic effects on the surface morphology.
